SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elsie P. Radtke, who passed away on
4October 21, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, Elsie Radtke was born in Chicago to Richard and
6Virginia Prendergast on March 21, 1949; before college, she
7started working and eventually managed six locations of Mary
8Del Corsetieres; she graduated from Saint Xavier University
9with a Master of Arts in Education; she married John Mannix in
101975; and
11 WHEREAS, Elsie Radtke worked as an art, English, and
12computer teacher before becoming the Associate Director of
13Family Ministries for the Archdiocese of Chicago, where she
14guided families through good times and bad; and
15 WHEREAS, Elsie Radtke was always looking for ways to help
16others and volunteered for many organizations, including
17PADS/Housing Forward; she was a skilled painter and baker, and
18her banana bread and chocolate chip cookies will be missed; she
19was an active and dedicated member of the Mater Christi Church,
20where she served as a Lector and participated on the Wake
21Committee and in the Women's Guild; and

1 WHEREAS, Elsie Radtke married John Radtke in 2000, and they
2traveled the world and enjoyed spending time being Grandma and
3Pa; for Elsie, nothing was more important than spending time
4with her grandchildren, and her love for her grandchildren was
5matched only by their love for her; and
6 WHEREAS, Elsie Radtke was the dearly beloved wife of John
7A. Radtke; the devoted mother of Kate (Jon) Hall, Thomas (Beth)
8Mannix, and Elizabeth (Brian) Gajos; the dear stepmother of
9Rebecca, Jeremy, Jessica, and the late Jeffrey Radtke; the
10adoring grandmother of Maya, Quinn, Lucas, J.J., and Jimmy; the
11loving sister of Kathleen (Dennis Ginosi) Prendergast, Joan
12(Michael) Restko, Joseph (Mitzi) Prendergast, Rev. Richard
13Prendergast, Thomas (Margaret) Prendergast, Anne (Roberto
14Obregon) Prendergast, Edward (Juliet) Prendergast, Melon
15(Michael) Prischman, and James (Rachel) Prendergast; and the
16dear aunt and friend of many; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Elsie P. Radtke and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23presented to the family of Elsie Radtke as an expression of our
