SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Chester B. "Chet" Zyskowski of Woodstock,
who passed away on July 15, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Chester Zyskowski was born in Chicago to Nikodem
and Cecilia (Grabowski) Zyskowski on May 14, 1928; he attended
St. Bruno School in Chicago and then St. Rita High School; he
served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during the
Korean War; he graduated from Ferris College, where he earned
his Bachelor of Science and registered pharmacist
certification; he married Jean Sochacki on October 8, 1955; and
WHEREAS, Chester Zyskowski managed the pharmacy in the
K-Mart store in Woodstock for many years; and
WHEREAS, Before moving to the Woodstock area, Chester
Zyskowski served as president of the home owners association at
Foster Harlem in Chicago; he was a member of St. Mary Catholic
Church in Woodstock, the P.A.P.A., the Woodstock VFW, and the
Woodstock Moose, where he called bingo games for many years; he
volunteered at Meals on Wheels and worked to bring the Dick
Tracy Days Celebration back to Woodstock; he was a contestant
on Wheel of Fortune and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Chester Zyskowski was preceded in death by his
parents; his daughter, Diane; his brothers, Cornelius (Joe) and
Stanley (Edmund); and his sisters, Mary, Gertrude, and Cecilia;
and
WHEREAS, Chester Zyskowski is survived by his wife of 61
years, Jean; his sons, Cliff (Becky) and Phillip (Jean)
Zyskowski; his daughter, Judith Marie Zyskowski; his
grandchildren, Jared (Lisa) Zystro, Mindy, Joseph, Nicholas,
Sam, and Jackson; and his great-grandchild, Toby Zystro;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Chester B. "Chet" Zyskowski, and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Chester Zyskowski as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
