SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Lawrence Gohmann, who passed away on June
8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence Gohmann was born in Chicago on September
6, 1949 and resided there until he moved to the northwest
suburbs of Chicago to raise his family; he served with the
United States Army, 23rd Infantry Division during the Vietnam
War from 1968 to 1969 and was awarded the Army Commendation
Medal; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence Gohmann retired from the United States
Post Office as postmaster of Crystal Lake in 1993 after 25
years of service; he founded a mailing supply business, for
which he served as president; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence Gohmann moved to Sarasota, Florida in
2000; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence Gohmann was the loving father of Jennifer
(James) Roberts and Michael (Jessica) Hawryluk; the loving
grandfather of Josephine, Samantha, Jacob, Lucy, Jillian, and
Alexa; the beloved brother of Stephen (Phyllis) Gohmann, James
(Susie) Gohmann, Marena Gohmann, Elaine Specha, and the late

Mary Jane Meyer; and the loving uncle of many nieces and
nephews and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Lawrence Gohmann, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Lawrence Gohmann as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
