| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Doris Jean Osborne-Mizelle, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on September 9, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Doris Osborne-Mizelle was born in
Jackson, | ||||||
6 | Tennessee to Otto and Katherine Crayton on June 29, 1937; she | ||||||
7 | was educated in Jackson public
schools, where she excelled in | ||||||
8 | her studies; she attended the Tabernacle
of David the House of | ||||||
9 | Israel Church, where her father was one of
the ministers; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Doris Osborne-Mizelle relocated to Chicago in her | ||||||
11 | late teens; she joined and was baptized at Calvary Missionary
| ||||||
12 | Baptist Church; she
later joined Trinity United Church of | ||||||
13 | Christ; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, As she raised her children, Doris Osborne-Mizelle | ||||||
15 | began attending Marion Business
College; she then decided to | ||||||
16 | follow her passion, caring for people; she became a certified
| ||||||
17 | nurse's assistant and worked in various health occupations,
| ||||||
18 | which included working for a pediatrician and a gynecologist; | ||||||
19 | she loved caring for the elderly and had many private duty | ||||||
20 | clients; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, In August 2017, Doris Osborne-Mizelle married the |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | love of her life, Larry Mizelle; they enjoyed traveling and | ||||||
2 | attending street festivals, the auto show, and church together; | ||||||
3 | and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Doris Osborne-Mizelle was an excellent cook; she | ||||||
5 | enjoyed shopping, and her closets were filled with sequined | ||||||
6 | dresses, suits, shoes, and jewelry bought at various stores, | ||||||
7 | especially her favorite, Carson Pirie Scott; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Doris Osborne-Mizelle was preceded in death by her | ||||||
9 | husband, Larry; her brothers,
Otto and John; her sister, Helen; | ||||||
10 | and her parents; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Doris Osborne-Mizelle is survived by her | ||||||
12 | children, LaChetis (Terrance) Brown, Linda Allison, Anthony | ||||||
13 | Osborne, Rhonda (John) Travis, and Valerie (Ray) Rice; her | ||||||
14 | sister, Lavern Lanier;
her sisters-in-law, Magnolia and
Mary | ||||||
15 | Crayton; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and | ||||||
16 | numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close
friends; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Doris Jean Osborne-Mizelle and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
21 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
22 | it further
