SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John D. VanNatta of Moline, who passed
4away on August 25, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, John VanNatta was born in Platteville, Wisconsin
6to Leroy and Florence Quinlan VanNatta on October 28, 1947; he
7graduated from Platteville High School in 1945; he attended
8Loras College until he was drafted into the United States Army
9Air Forces in 1946; he attained the rank of sergeant and was
10stationed in the Philippines; after being discharged in 1947,
11he attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and
12majored in engineering; he married Joyce Kay in 1949; he
13married Carolyn Guinn Dailey in 1981; and
14 WHEREAS, John VanNatta was employed as an engineer at Deere
15and Company; he retired in 1983 after 33 years of service; and
16 WHEREAS, John VanNatta enjoyed spending time with his
17family and friends; he was an avid golfer, a master woodworker,
18the ultimate Mr. Fix-It, and a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the
19Chicago Bears; he will be remembered for his ready smile and
20quick wit and as the neighborhood guy who carried his dog for a
21walk; and

1 WHEREAS, John VanNatta was preceded in death by his
2parents; his infant son, Mark; his daughter, Lori Meuser; his
3grandson, Mark Brown; his sister, Norma Saunders; and his
4brother, Francis VanNatta; and
5 WHEREAS, John VanNatta is survived by his wife of 38 years,
6Carolyn; his daughter, Carolyn (Richard) Trewartha; his son,
7Dr. Michael (Doreen) VanNatta; his son-in-law, Chris Meuser;
8his stepchildren, Brian (Lori) Dailey, Jill (Larry) Kelly,
9Mitch Dailey, Melissa (Jim) Lampo, and Curt (Lisa) Dailey; his
10grandchildren, Tim (Angie) Brown, Amanda Brown, Andy (Lauren)
11VanNatta, Allison (Jeffrey) Wright, Aubrey (Aaron) McKay,
12Matthew (Samantha) VanNatta, Mark and Mitch VanNatta, Adam
13(Hollie) Meuser, Abby and Kyle Meuser, Ellen (Tommy) Burt,
14Megan (J.T.) McCormick, Michael Dailey, Maggie Lampo, Miles
15(Claire) Lampo, Brooke Dailey, and Keira Dailey; his 18
16great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and his beloved
17pup, Sadie; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20John D. VanNatta and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
