| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John D. VanNatta of Moline, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on August 25, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John VanNatta was born in Platteville, Wisconsin | ||||||
6 | to Leroy and Florence Quinlan VanNatta on October 28, 1947; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Platteville High School in 1945; he attended | ||||||
8 | Loras College until he was drafted into the United States Army | ||||||
9 | Air Forces in 1946; he attained the rank of sergeant and was | ||||||
10 | stationed in the Philippines; after being discharged in 1947, | ||||||
11 | he attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and | ||||||
12 | majored in engineering; he married Joyce Kay in 1949; he | ||||||
13 | married Carolyn Guinn Dailey in 1981; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, John VanNatta was employed as an engineer at Deere | ||||||
15 | and Company; he retired in 1983 after 33 years of service; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, John VanNatta enjoyed spending time with his | ||||||
17 | family and friends; he was an avid golfer, a master woodworker, | ||||||
18 | the ultimate Mr. Fix-It, and a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the | ||||||
19 | Chicago Bears; he will be remembered for his ready smile and | ||||||
20 | quick wit and as the neighborhood guy who carried his dog for a | ||||||
21 | walk; and

2 | parents; his infant son, Mark; his daughter, Lori Meuser; his | ||||||
3 | grandson, Mark Brown; his sister, Norma Saunders; and his | ||||||
4 | brother, Francis VanNatta; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John VanNatta is survived by his wife of 38 years, | ||||||
6 | Carolyn; his daughter, Carolyn (Richard) Trewartha; his son, | ||||||
7 | Dr. Michael (Doreen) VanNatta; his son-in-law, Chris Meuser; | ||||||
8 | his stepchildren, Brian (Lori) Dailey, Jill (Larry) Kelly, | ||||||
9 | Mitch Dailey, Melissa (Jim) Lampo, and Curt (Lisa) Dailey; his | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, Tim (Angie) Brown, Amanda Brown, Andy (Lauren) | ||||||
11 | VanNatta, Allison (Jeffrey) Wright, Aubrey (Aaron) McKay, | ||||||
12 | Matthew (Samantha) VanNatta, Mark and Mitch VanNatta, Adam | ||||||
13 | (Hollie) Meuser, Abby and Kyle Meuser, Ellen (Tommy) Burt, | ||||||
14 | Megan (J.T.) McCormick, Michael Dailey, Maggie Lampo, Miles | ||||||

16 | great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and his beloved | ||||||

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | John D. VanNatta and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further

23 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
