2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Ervin Robert "Bob" Pape III of Danville, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on September 18, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III was born on February 26, 1943 in | ||||||
6 | Danville to Ervin Robert Pape, Jr. and Helen Frances (nee | ||||||
7 | Lange) Pape; he attended Liberty, Edison, and Danville High | ||||||
8 | Schools, graduating in 1961; he studied computer programming | ||||||
9 | while attending Danville Area Community College, the | ||||||
10 | University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Bradley University | ||||||
11 | in Peoria, and Northwestern University in Evanston; he later | ||||||
12 | attended The Indiana School of Mortuary Science, graduating in | ||||||
13 | 1966 as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer; and

14 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III began his career at Tee Pak Credit | ||||||
15 | Union as a supervisor of quality control; in 1977, he purchased | ||||||
16 | Berhalter Funeral Home and operated it until 1984 when he | ||||||
17 | became the fourth generation owner of Pape Funeral Home; in | ||||||
18 | 1985 and 1995, the Pape Botanical Gardens and a crematory were | ||||||
19 | added respectively; he was a Licensed Funeral Director in | ||||||
20 | Illinois, Indiana, and Florida and a member of the Illinois | ||||||
21 | Funeral Directors Association, the Indiana Funeral Directors | ||||||
22 | Association, and the Florida Funeral Directors Association; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III was a longtime member of the Rotary | ||||||
2 | Club of Danville No. 188, the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #38, | ||||||
3 | the Further Light Lodge No. 1130 Ancient Free and Accepted | ||||||
4 | Masons, and the Valley of Danville - Ancient Accepted Scottish | ||||||
5 | Rite of Freemasonry, past Thrice Potent Master and coroneted | ||||||
6 | 33rd Degree in 1986; he was also a member of the Eastern | ||||||
7 | Illinois Shrine Club-Ansar Shrine, the Knights of Columbus, and | ||||||
8 | the Danville Country Club; he is a former member of the | ||||||
9 | Danville Elks Lodge #332 (Elk of the Year 1973), the Jaguar | ||||||
10 | Club of North America, the National Nomad Club, the Vermilion | ||||||
11 | County Board, and the Danville Jaycees; in his younger years, | ||||||
12 | he was active in the United Fund, the Young Men's Christian | ||||||
13 | Association Drive, and the Boy Scouts of America; and

14 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III's passion was flying; he always | ||||||
15 | maintained his pilot's license, and along with his wife, went | ||||||
16 | on many small trips in their Piper Saratoga; he enjoyed flying | ||||||
17 | commercially all over the country, whether it was for monthly | ||||||
18 | wine dinners at the Orlando Hyatt, events at the Lyric Opera | ||||||
19 | and Joffrey Ballet, or taking part in the Russian American | ||||||
20 | Foundation and Bolshoi Ballet; in July of 2013, he achieved his | ||||||
21 | lifelong goal to obtain Diamond Status with Delta Airlines; he | ||||||
22 | was also very interested in discovering Russian culture and | ||||||
23 | language; he had taken multiple trips to Russia over the years | ||||||
24 | and was very active in securing a matching Rotary Grant to |

1 | secure a bus for a Russian orphange; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | parents; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ervin Pape III is survived by his children, | ||||||
5 | Adrienne Pape, David (Kristin) Allen, Alexandra Pape (Jeff | ||||||
6 | Daeschler), and ER "Roby" Pape IV (Morgan Ritchie); his | ||||||
7 | grandchildren, Sophia Pape Allen and Payton Daeschler; his | ||||||
8 | sister, Patricia Ann (Vince) Tumminello; his nephew, Vincent | ||||||
9 | Tumminello; his ex-wife, Mitzi Ann (nee Williamson) Pape; his | ||||||
10 | dog and companion, Blue; and many, many people whose lives he | ||||||
11 | touched throughout the years; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
14 | Ervin Robert "Bob" Pape III, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
15 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
16 | it further
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Ervin Pape III as an expression of | ||||||
19 | our deepest sympathy.
