SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Thaddeus "Ted" V. Killian of Waukegan,
who passed away on June 9, 2017 at the age of 94; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was born in North Chicago to John
and Mary Killian in 1922; he was a member of the Civilian
Conservation Corps and served in the United States Army during
World War II; he married Rose Valencic in Waukegan at Mother of
God Church in 1947; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian began his career with Johns
Manville; he then worked for the United States Steel
Corporation until his retirement in 1979; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was an active member of the
American-Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans, the United
Steelworkers, and Queen of Peace Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was a dedicated and hard working
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, uncle, and
brother; he spent his entire life living independently; he
especially enjoyed dancing, listening to music, golfing,
working on home improvement, woodworking projects, and
spending time with family; and

WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian especially appreciated the
loving care of his family, the Haroian family, and his
caregivers, Linda Ridley and Betty Wiley; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife of almost 60 years, Rose; his son-in-law,
Dennis Cobb; his siblings, Steffie (Al) Swirski, Frank (Mary)
Killian, John Killian, Lillian (Lester) Curry, and Chester
(Zenia) Killian; his niece, Kathy Kudra; and his nephew, Kevin
Killian; and
WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian is survived by his children, Ted
(Gerrine) Killian and Diane Cobb; his grandchildren, Danielle
Killian, Michael Killian, Jaime (Kris Sturgell) Rukstales,
Julie Hughes, Jennifer (Rick) Bentley, and Bryan (Nicole) Cobb;
his great-grandchildren, Charlie Hughes, Alysen Cobb, and
baby-to-be, Bentley; his brothers, Walter Killian and Leo
(Dolores) Killian; his sister-in-law, Helen Killian; and many
nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Thaddeus "Ted" V. Killian, and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
