SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Duane H. Cunningham of East Moline, who
passed away on August 12, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Duane Cunningham was born in Mountain Grove,
Missouri to Archie and Pearl (Sanders) Cunningham on June 21,
1924; he served in the United States Army during World War II
and was stationed in Germany, Austria, Texas, and California;
he married Lois Heatherly in Arkansas in 1945; and
WHEREAS, Duane Cunningham worked at the Rock Island Arsenal
and retired in 1972; he then worked as a manager at Roadside
Auto; and
WHEREAS, Duane Cunningham had a strong faith and was
instrumental in forming the Sycamore Reformed Baptist Church in
East Moline; he was great at fixing things around the house; he
was a loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with
his many good friends and loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Duane Cunningham was preceded in death by his
daughter, Donna Cunningham; and his brothers, Elmo and Donald
"Genie" Cunningham; and

WHEREAS, Duane Cunningham is survived by his wife of 74
years, Lois; his daughters, Evelyn Barry and Karen Cunningham;
and his brother, Robert Cunningham; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Duane H. Cunningham and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Duane Cunningham as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
