| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Dennis G. Mathews of Rock Island, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on August 9, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was born in Rock Island to Glen and | ||||||
| 6 | Viola Grieme Mathews on September 1, 1946; he graduated from | ||||||
| 7 | Rock Island High School in 1964; following high school, he | ||||||
| 8 | served in the United States Army; he married Vicki L. DeMeyer | ||||||
| 9 | in Rock Island on October 16, 1982; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews worked as a machinist for Parr | ||||||
| 11 | Instrument Co. in Moline for 27 years; in his retirement, he | ||||||
| 12 | enjoyed a brief career as a dog walker; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was an avid fan of Rock Island High | ||||||
| 14 | School sports, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Bears, and | ||||||
| 15 | NASCAR; he enjoyed boating on the Mississippi; some of his | ||||||
| 16 | favorite times were those spent with family; he loved being a | ||||||
| 17 | grandfather; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 19 | parents and his aunt, Fern; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Dennis Mathews is survived by his wife, Vicki; his | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and LCDR Scott Shields, USN; | ||||||
| 2 | his granddaughters, Shelby (Garrett) Stevens, Grace Shields, | ||||||
| 3 | and Isabelle Shields; his brother, Dean (Debra) Mathews; his | ||||||
| 4 | nephews, Scott Mathews and Michael (McKenzie) Mathews; and | ||||||
| 5 | several great-nieces and a great-nephew; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 8 | Dennis G. Mathews and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 10 | further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to the family of Dennis Mathews as an expression of | ||||||
| 13 | our deepest sympathy.
