SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Mozell "Buggie" Brown Jr., who passed
away at the age of 53; and
WHEREAS, Mozell Brown was born in Chicago to Mozell Sr. and
Iona Brown on December 7, 1963; he was the eighth child in his
family and was often referred to as "knee baby"; he attended
Corliss High School, where he was an enthusiastic athlete and
received many achievements and awards for his talents in
baseball and football; he graduated top of his class with a
bachelor's degree in business administration from Prairie View
A&M University in Texas; he enrolled in Cain's Barber College
in Chicago to pursue his passion for cutting hair and was given
the opportunity to master his skills at Tiger Master Design; he
married April Ester on August 9, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Mozell Brown opened Jr's Barber Shop in Dolton; he
then embarked on another journey, opening the first of his four
Harold's Chicken Shacks in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Mozell Brown touched the lives of many through his
mentorship, loving spirit, infectious smile, and unselfish
heart; he possessed all the qualities of a devoted husband,
providing father, and supporting friend; he loved spending time

with family and friends, playing golf, eating sweets, and
April's good ol' Sunday dinners; and
WHEREAS, Mozell Brown is survived by his loving wife of
nearly 25 years, April; his daughters, Ashley and Morgan Brown;
his mother, Iona Brown; his siblings, Rodger, Tarran (Florine),
Wayne, Mike (Gwen), Timothy, LaWanda (Shelby), Tonnon
(Prince), and Terrence (Trina); his grandchild, Mackenzie
Brown; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Mozell "Buggie" Brown Jr., and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Mozell Brown as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
