| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Gene F. Kratschmer of Godfrey, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on February 3, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He was born in Alton on September 19, 1925, to | ||||||
| 6 | Frederick J. and Mayme F. (Krepel) Kratschmer; he married Mary | ||||||
| 7 | Ann Penning on June 17, 1950 and she preceded him in death in | ||||||
| 8 | 1975; on January 1, 1996, he married Patti (Flippo) Toolen; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, He was a certified public accountant for 45 years, | ||||||
| 10 | the last 40 years of which he was a partner at Scheffel and | ||||||
| 11 | Company; he was a member of the American Institute of Certified | ||||||
| 12 | Public Accountants, the Illinois Institute of CPAs, the | ||||||
| 13 | American Legion Post 2910, president of the Alton Rotary Club, | ||||||
| 14 | and chairman of the Southwest Illinois United Way Campaign; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, He served his country in the Naval Air Corps from | ||||||
| 16 | 1943 to 1945; he attended St. Patrick's Grade School, Marquette | ||||||
| 17 | High School, and Alton High School Class of 1943; he attended | ||||||
| 18 | Washington University in St. Louis and in 1948 earned a | ||||||
| 19 | Bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis | ||||||
| 20 | in accounting; he was a noted musician and played with local | ||||||
| 21 | bands and musicians including Hank Penning, Carol Peters, and | ||||||
| 22 | Ronnie Klaus; he was a lifetime member of the Musicians Local | ||||||

| 2 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his | ||||||
| 3 | first wife, Mary Ann; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Gene Kratschmer is survived by his wife, Patti; | ||||||
| 5 | his children and their spouses, Mark (Mary Jo) Kratschmer, | ||||||
| 6 | Lynne (John) Troyan, Michael (Karen) Kratschmer, Bo (Lori) | ||||||
| 7 | Kratschmer, Jeff (Michelle) Kratschmer, Val (Brian) Vogt, and | ||||||
| 8 | Toni (Nelson) Palmer; his grandchildren and their spouses, Ted, | ||||||
| 9 | Christopher, John, Eric, Kelly, Katy, and Livy Kratschmer, Mary | ||||||
| 10 | (Robert) Vandevord, Jessica Dow, Ashley Mize, Nathan and | ||||||
| 11 | Gretchen Vogt; his great-grandchild, Ivy Jade Vandevord; and | ||||||
| 12 | several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; | ||||||
| 13 | therefore, be it

| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 16 | his family and friends, the passing of Gene Kratschmer; and be | ||||||
| 17 | it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Gene Kratschmer as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 20 | sincere sympathy.
