| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of John J. Gibson of Peoria, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on October 18, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Gibson was born in Peoria to Thomas and | ||||||
6 | Hazel (Fosbender) Gibson on March 29, 1932; he served in the | ||||||
7 | United States Army during the Korean War; he married Camille | ||||||
8 | M. Esslinger in Peoria on March 3, 1962; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, John Gibson served as the Vice President of | ||||||
10 | Personnel at Keystone Steel & Wire Company and later as the | ||||||
11 | President for the Employers Association; he last worked as the | ||||||
12 | Development Director for the Peoria Catholic Diocese from 2005 | ||||||
13 | until his retirement in 2019; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, John Gibson was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic | ||||||
15 | Church in Peoria; he was 50-year member of the Knights of | ||||||
16 | Columbus, 3rd Degree Spalding Council #427; he had also served | ||||||
17 | his community in a variety of other ways, including | ||||||
18 | involvement with the Peoria Historical Society and the | ||||||
19 | Downtown Rotary Club; he was a member of the Youth Farm Board | ||||||
20 | and various other Peoria city boards and commissions; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, John Gibson was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | one sister; and four brothers; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, John Gibson is survived by his wife, Camille; his | ||||||
3 | brother, Patrick Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews; | ||||||
4 | therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | John J. Gibson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of John Gibson as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
