SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Matthew W. "Matt" Williams of Moline,
4who passed away on September 29, 2021; and
5 WHEREAS, Matt Williams was born in Moline to Michael and
6Ronita (Johnson) Williams on January 7, 1968; he graduated
7from United Township High School in 1986 and married Sheli
8VanTieghem in Omaha, Nebraska on February 14, 1990; and
9 WHEREAS, Matt Williams served in the U.S. Army and worked
10at the U.S. Army Headquarters Tank-Automotive and Armaments
11Command in Warren, Michigan; he previously worked at the Rock
12Island Arsenal, retiring from the U.S. Army after 21 years of
13service; and
14 WHEREAS, Matt Williams enjoyed golfing and was an avid
15sports fan, including the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs; and
16 WHEREAS, Matt Williams is survived by his children, Hayden
17Williams, Brandon Williams, and Matison (Caleb) Williams; his
18granddaughter, Brooklynn; his mother, Ronita Duncan; his
19father, Michael (Nancy) Williams; his sisters, Norma (Rick)
20Williams, Sammy Williams, and Mandy Williams; his brothers,
21Neal (Angela) Williams, Mike (Teri) Williams Jr., and Shaun

1(Sarah) Williams; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews;
2and his companion, Dawn Porter; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Matthew W. "Matt" Williams and extend our sincere condolences
6to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
7it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Matt Williams as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
