| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Francis Urbaan Ballegeer of East | ||||||
4 | Moline, who passed away on August 2, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer was born in Moline to Urbaan | ||||||
6 | and Goldie (Callewaert) Ballegeer on October 31, 1928; he | ||||||
7 | married Marilyn Schwenneker at St. Mary's Catholic Church in | ||||||
8 | East Moline on September 16, 1950; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer worked a few years for the East | ||||||
10 | Moline Street Department, at Emil De Donker's Feed Mill in | ||||||
11 | East Moline, and then briefly at a foundry before joining the | ||||||
12 | U.S. Marine Corps for two years; after his service, he and his | ||||||
13 | wife rented a farm near Carbon Cliff for two years; they then | ||||||
14 | bought a farm in Green Rock; that farm and half of the Urbaan | ||||||
15 | Ballegeer farm on Coaltown Road are still owned and farmed by | ||||||
16 | Francis's family; and

17 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer served four years as road | ||||||
18 | commissioner of Colona Township; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer enjoyed motorcycling and water | ||||||
20 | skiing for recreation in his younger years; his favorite | ||||||
21 | recreation was horseback riding, and he participated in many |

1 | organized trail rides, shoed horses for several years, and | ||||||
2 | enjoyed western movies; in later years, he loved sitting with | ||||||
3 | his wife on the deck overlooking the Ballegeer Pond; after his | ||||||
4 | wife passed, he especially enjoyed the company of his | ||||||
5 | great-grandchildren; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | parents; his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Catherine Miller; his | ||||||
8 | brothers, Edward, Leonard, and Robert Ballegeer; and his | ||||||
9 | daughter, Sherry McKeag; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer is survived by his sons, Larry | ||||||
11 | (Mary Kay) Ballegeer, David (Robbin) Ballegeer, and Steve | ||||||
12 | Ballegeer; his grandchildren, Shannon, Mitch, Megan, Josh, | ||||||
13 | Jake, Joseph, James, Jason, Adam, and Stephanie; his | ||||||
14 | great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dallas, Desirae, Destiny, Hunter, | ||||||
15 | Emery, Rylie, Judd, Deegan, and William; his | ||||||
16 | step-grandchildren, Brandon and Nick; and his brother, Donald; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Francis Urbaan Ballegeer and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
