SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Roberta Lara of Joliet, who passed away
on April 28, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lara was born on April 22, 1957; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lara retired from Joliet Junior College
after 35 years of service, working in the records and
graduation departments; she received an honorary degree upon
her retirement; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lara was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs
and Pittsburgh Steelers; her favorite saying was "cool beans";
she was affectionately known as "Bobbi" and "Sissy"; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lara was preceded in death by mother,
Beatrice (Frausto) Lara; her grandmother, Trinidad (Qurioz)
Frausto; her grandfather, Pedro Frausto; and her
great-grandmother, Sabina Qurioz; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lara is survived by her sister, Theresa
(Brian) Baranski; her nephew, Brian (Kristin) Baranski Jr.; her
niece, Cheryl (Dave Ramirez) Baranski; her great-nieces and
nephews, Makenna, Carter, Logan, Ethan, Chase, Noah, and

Olivia; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her best
friend, Bea Spights; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Roberta Lara, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Roberta Lara as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
