SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald D. "Don" Evans of Ellsworth, who
4passed away on June 14, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, Don Evans was born in Arrowsmith to Wilkins "Jack"
6and Floss Sutton Evans on October 31, 1931; stationed in Linz,
7Austria, he served as a military police officer in the United
8States Army from 1952 until 1954; he married Lois Kaufman in
9Heyworth on May 21, 1960; and
10 WHEREAS, Don Evans served as the Dawson Township Road
11Commissioner for four terms; he managed the Ellsworth Grain Co.
12from 1974 until 1982; he was a Realtor from 1982 until 2005;
13and
14 WHEREAS, Don Evans was a member of the Heyworth Christian
15Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee; he was a
16charter member of the American Legion Post 1244, Ellsworth and
17a fireman for the Ellsworth Fire Department; he also served on
18the Dawson Cemetery Board of Directors; and
19 WHEREAS, Don Evans was preceded in death by his parents and
20his brothers, Edgar Lee Evans and James Evans; and

1 WHEREAS, Don Evans is survived by his wife, Lois; his
2daughter, Janine "Jan" Evans; and his many nieces and nephews;
3therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Donald D. "Don" Evans and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Don Evans as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
