SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Donald D. "Don" Evans of Ellsworth, who
passed away on June 14, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Don Evans was born in Arrowsmith to Wilkins "Jack"
and Floss Sutton Evans on October 31, 1931; stationed in Linz,
Austria, he served as a military police officer in the United
States Army from 1952 until 1954; he married Lois Kaufman in
Heyworth on May 21, 1960; and
WHEREAS, Don Evans served as the Dawson Township Road
Commissioner for four terms; he managed the Ellsworth Grain Co.
from 1974 until 1982; he was a Realtor from 1982 until 2005;
and
WHEREAS, Don Evans was a member of the Heyworth Christian
Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee; he was a
charter member of the American Legion Post 1244, Ellsworth and
a fireman for the Ellsworth Fire Department; he also served on
the Dawson Cemetery Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Don Evans was preceded in death by his parents and
his brothers, Edgar Lee Evans and James Evans; and

WHEREAS, Don Evans is survived by his wife, Lois; his
daughter, Janine "Jan" Evans; and his many nieces and nephews;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Donald D. "Don" Evans and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Don Evans as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
