2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dr. Gregory J. Adamson of Peoria, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 11, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was born in Monticello, Iowa to Robert | ||||||
6 | and Barbara (Vernon) Adamson on December 9, 1960; he graduated | ||||||
7 | Summa Cum Laude from Augustana College with a bachelor's degree | ||||||
8 | in biology and pre-med; he received his medical degree from | ||||||
9 | Stanford University Medical School; he was a member of the | ||||||
10 | Aristea Freshman Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa, Zeta | ||||||
11 | Chapter; he married Michelle M. Rodriguez in Santa Fe, New | ||||||
12 | Mexico on January 16, 1993; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson started his career in Peoria at Great | ||||||
14 | Plains Orthopedics; he then founded Peoria Hand Surgery in | ||||||
15 | 2015; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson traveled to Haiti to provide free | ||||||
17 | Orthopedic surgical services to victims of the earthquake in | ||||||
18 | 2010; he also regularly volunteered at Cordoba Healthcare, | ||||||
19 | where he provided free medical care to the Peoria community; | ||||||
20 | and

21 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was a member of the J.W. Littler Hand |

1 | Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the | ||||||
2 | Illinois State Medical Society, where he served as a Delegate | ||||||
3 | at the annual meetings and was recently elected as the Region 1 | ||||||
4 | Trustee, and the American Medical Association; he joined the | ||||||
5 | Peoria Medical Society in 1995 and had been active on the board | ||||||
6 | since 2011, taking a leave from 2013 until 2015 to pursue his | ||||||
7 | Masters of Business Administration at the University of | ||||||
8 | Michigan; when he returned, he again joined the board of | ||||||
9 | directors and served as a Director in 2016 and as President | ||||||
10 | Elect in 2017; he was currently serving as the society's | ||||||
11 | immediate Past President; he was published in the Journal of | ||||||
12 | Arthroplasty in 1996; he was a presenter at the Western | ||||||
13 | Orthopedic Association Conference; he was elected to the Peoria | ||||||
14 | County Board in 2016 and represented District 11; his | ||||||
15 | outstanding leadership will be missed; and

16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was preceded in death by his mother | ||||||
17 | and his brother, Clayton Adamson; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson is survived by his wife, Michelle; his | ||||||
19 | children, Hannah, Clayton, Lily, and Sarah Adamson; his father, | ||||||
20 | Robert Marvin (Shirley) Adamson; and his siblings, Parke | ||||||
21 | (Diane) Adamson and Ellen Kay (Ty) Taylor; therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Dr. Gregory J. Adamson and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
2 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
3 | further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Dr. Adamson as an expression of our | ||||||
6 | deepest sympathy.
