| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Patrick "Twink" Tavine of | ||||||
4 | Springfield, who passed away on August 19, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine was born to Genevieve and Mike | ||||||
6 | Tavine in Springfield on December 1, 1949; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Griffin High School, known today as Sacred Heart-Griffin; he | ||||||
8 | attended Springfield College in Illinois; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine worked for the Illinois Department | ||||||
10 | of Public Health; he also owned and operated several | ||||||
11 | Springfield bars and restaurants; he first opened Pat Tavine's | ||||||
12 | at Chatham Road and Wabash Avenue in 1970; he reopened The Lake | ||||||
13 | Club at 2840 Fox Bridge Road in 1980; after closing the | ||||||
14 | original The Lake Club in 1988, he later operated The Lake Club | ||||||
15 | II on Toronto Road with Steve Morrison; he was associated with | ||||||
16 | a number of other establishments in Springfield, including | ||||||
17 | Gilligans, P.T.'s Salla D-Ballo, The Spot, On Broadway, and | ||||||
18 | Jake and Elwood's; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine became involved in politics as a | ||||||
20 | Republican committeeman in Precinct 100 and as chairman of the | ||||||
21 | southern district of Springfield for the Sangamon County | ||||||
22 | Republicans; he joined the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition |

1 | and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) Board in 1980, where he | ||||||
2 | served as secretary; he later left the authority to run for | ||||||
3 | Ward 10 of the Springfield City Council in 1987, which was | ||||||
4 | unsuccessful; he was reappointed to SMEAA in 1990; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine enjoyed spending time with his | ||||||
6 | family, playing golf, people watching, sitting at the bar, | ||||||
7 | tipping big, and watching golf, football, and baseball; he | ||||||
8 | also enjoyed making others laugh; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine loved his children and worked hard | ||||||
10 | to provide for his family; he was a loyal friend to many; he | ||||||
11 | will be remembered as an avid storyteller, a gregarious host, | ||||||
12 | and a local legend in the bar business; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine is survived by his daughter, Leah | ||||||
14 | (Sean) Stutler; his grandsons, Mason and Jackson; his | ||||||
15 | daughter, Jill (partner Joe) Tavine; his brother, Mike (Terry) | ||||||
16 | Tavine; his nieces, Jennifer Craig and Sarah Leemans; and his | ||||||
17 | nephew, Joe Tavine; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Patrick "Twink" Tavine and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
