| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Joseph Archie Lyons of Washington, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 13, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Archie Lyons was born in Sandoval to Joseph | ||||||
6 | Archie and O'Linda Susan Just Lyons on December 10, 1937; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Woodruff High School and Sangamon State | ||||||
8 | University; he served in the U.S. Army Reserve; he married | ||||||
9 | Gisela Haschke in Peoria on July 29, 1957, and she preceded him | ||||||
10 | in death on November 14, 2001; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, In 1996, Archie Lyons retired from CILCO as a | ||||||
12 | purchasing manager after 40 years of service; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Archie Lyons was a longtime member of Faith | ||||||
14 | Lutheran Church in Washington and the National Association of | ||||||
15 | Purchasing Managers; he was active in East Peoria as part of | ||||||
16 | the Noon Optimist Club and as a member of the city council; he | ||||||
17 | was a past Citizen of the Year; he volunteered with the | ||||||
18 | Festival of Lights for many years and helped design and build | ||||||
19 | the Duck and Ducklings float among others; he believed in | ||||||
20 | helping when he could and offered support to Relay for Life and | ||||||
21 | the Red Cross; and

1 | WHEREAS, Archie Lyons was a devoted husband, father, and | ||||||
2 | grandfather who always put his family first; he will be | ||||||
3 | remembered as a true gentleman; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Archie Lyons was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents; his wife; his daughter, Crystal Ann Lyons; and his | ||||||
6 | sister, Ethel Forsberg; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Archie Lyons is survived by his children, Lory | ||||||
8 | Sandberg, Debbie (Lee) Leal, Heidi (Scott) Crumrine, Molly | ||||||
9 | (Chuck) Gray, and Archie Lyons (Tom Coy); his grandchildren, | ||||||
10 | Shirley Sandberg, Ivan Sandberg, Moriah Crumrine, Timothy | ||||||
11 | Crumrine, Isaac Crumrine, Amos Crumrine, Danielle Gray, Rachel | ||||||
12 | Gray, and Lincoln Coy; his great-grandsons, Tanner Sandberg | ||||||
13 | and Noah Sandberg; his brother, Dave (Janis) Lyons; and his | ||||||
14 | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Joseph Archie Lyons and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Archie Lyons as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
