SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Shirley Sue Cloninger of Alton, who
4passed away on April 21, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Shirley Cloninger was born in Vandalia to Helen
6Curry and Floyd W. Radcliffe on January 1, 1931; she graduated
7from Roxana High School in 1949 and from Alton Memorial School
8of Nursing in 1952; she married C. Wayne Cloninger in Wood
9River on September 14, 1952; and
10 WHEREAS, Shirley Cloninger began her 42-year nursing
11career with Drs. W.V. Roberson and B.L. Roberson at Wood River
12Township Hospital and retired in 1991; and
13 WHEREAS, Shirley Cloninger was a member of St. Paul United
14Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights; and
15 WHEREAS, Shirley Cloninger was preceded in death by her
16parents; her son, Gregory Wayne Cloninger; and her daughter,
17Nancy Lynn Walker Bobo; and
18 WHEREAS, Shirley Cloninger is survived by her husband,
19Wayne; her daughter, Kathryn Sue (John) Theen; her
20grandchildren, Jeffrey (Laura) Cloninger, Jeremy (Irene)

1Stalcup, Brian Cloninger, Kyle (Tamara) Walker, Alicia
2Stalcup, Ryan (fiancee Jama Fabry) Theen, and Christopher
3(Rachael) Stalcup; and her six great-grandchildren; therefore,

5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Shirley Sue Cloninger, and extend our sincere condolences to
8her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Shirley Cloninger as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
