2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jesse Charles Flores Sr. of Peoria, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 17, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jesse Flores was born in Joliet to Jose Flores and | ||||||
6 | Carmen Rodriguez-Flores on April 30, 1931; he married Mary | ||||||
7 | Martha Lee in Peoria on May 27, 1950; he served with the United | ||||||
8 | States Army in 1952 during the Korean War; later, he was part | ||||||
9 | of the 371st Army Band and was honorably discharged in 1954; he | ||||||
10 | received two Bronze Service Stars, one United Nations Medal, | ||||||
11 | one National Defense Medal, one Korean Service Medal, and one | ||||||
12 | Good Conduct Medal; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jesse Flores enjoyed music and teaching, which led | ||||||
14 | to the opening of the Pekin Academy of Music in 1957, where in | ||||||
15 | the 1960s, he sponsored weekend dances; he changed the name to | ||||||
16 | Flores Music and opened a second location in Peoria Heights; | ||||||
17 | and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Jesse Flores formed the Jesse Flores Band, and was | ||||||
19 | the house band at the Jerry Lewis Telethons; they also played | ||||||
20 | at numerous special events throughout Central Illinois; he | ||||||
21 | donated generously to numerous charities in Mexico and was very | ||||||
22 | committed to his Catholic faith; he loved to teach his music |

1 | students, go on family vacations, and attend weekly family | ||||||
2 | gatherings and Saturday Mass; his students were a large part of | ||||||
3 | his life; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Jesse Flores was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
5 | Mary; his mother, Carmen; his father, Jose; his sister, Carmen | ||||||
6 | Flores; four brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; his | ||||||
7 | daughter-in-law, Jennifer Davidson-Flores; and his | ||||||
8 | granddaughter, Renee Flores; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jesse Flores is survived by his sons, Jesse | ||||||
10 | (Janell) Flores Jr., Michael (Beth) Flores, Tony (Karah) | ||||||
11 | Flores, Victor (Lori) Flores, and Martin Flores; his daughters, | ||||||
12 | Linda Flores Waldron, and Rebecca (Tom) Frakes; 14 | ||||||
13 | grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
14 | Julie Devine; his son-in-law, Rick Waldron; and several nieces | ||||||
15 | and nephews; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Jesse Charles Flores Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
19 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Jesse Flores as an expression of our |
