2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith of Colona, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 8, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith was born in Canton to John and Lela | ||||||
6 | Franks Smith on December 6, 1941; he served in the United | ||||||
7 | States Army during the Korean War and he married Rhonda Downing | ||||||
8 | in Rock Island on December 28, 1984; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith worked at Farmall for 25 years before | ||||||
10 | transferring to Navistar in Ohio, where he worked for 15 years | ||||||
11 | until he retired in 2000; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith loved woodworking and spending time | ||||||
13 | with his children and grandchildren; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his | ||||||
15 | children, Dawn Smith, Jodie Cassidy, Magan (David) Jones, J.R. | ||||||
16 | Smith, and Rusty Smith; and his grandchildren, Michael, Cory, | ||||||
17 | Taylor, Bailey, Robert and Hannah; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences |
