| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith of Colona, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on April 8, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith was born in Canton to John and Lela | ||||||
| 6 | Franks Smith on December 6, 1941; he served in the United | ||||||
| 7 | States Army during the Korean War and he married Rhonda Downing | ||||||
| 8 | in Rock Island on December 28, 1984; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith worked at Farmall for 25 years before | ||||||
| 10 | transferring to Navistar in Ohio, where he worked for 15 years | ||||||
| 11 | until he retired in 2000; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith loved woodworking and spending time | ||||||
| 13 | with his children and grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his | ||||||
| 15 | children, Dawn Smith, Jodie Cassidy, Magan (David) Jones, J.R. | ||||||
| 16 | Smith, and Rusty Smith; and his grandchildren, Michael, Cory, | ||||||
| 17 | Taylor, Bailey, Robert and Hannah; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 20 | Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||

| 1 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 2 | it further
