| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Nancy M. Godar of Godfrey, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on April 6, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was born to Marjorie and Lambert | ||||||
6 | Hoffman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1943; after | ||||||
7 | her father was killed in action in World War II in 1944, she | ||||||
8 | was later adopted and raised by Walter E. Bensman; she married | ||||||
9 | Neil J. Godar at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton on August | ||||||
10 | 1, 1964; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Godar began her career as a registered nurse | ||||||
12 | at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton; she also worked at OSF St. | ||||||
13 | Anthony's Hospital in the ICU and at Alton Memorial Hospital in | ||||||
14 | medical and surgery; she was best known for her time working at | ||||||
15 | Dr. Thomas Morrisey's Pediatric office in Godfrey and later for | ||||||
16 | Dr. Khaldoun Elzoobi and Dr. Gita Malur; she loved working as a | ||||||
17 | nurse and continued working per diem throughout the COMPASS | ||||||
18 | system at St. Anthony's with several different physician's | ||||||
19 | offices as well as offering shots at VNA Health Care; she made | ||||||
20 | many great friends along the way until her retirement; and

21 | WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was a longtime member of St. Ambrose | ||||||
22 | Catholic Church where she taught and was in charge of the |

1 | Parish School of Religion program and was very active for years | ||||||
2 | with the church choir; she loved going to The Muny every | ||||||
3 | summer, which was time she treasured with her family; she loved | ||||||
4 | to travel and visit her brothers and sisters in Colorado and | ||||||
5 | Oregon; she was very active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the | ||||||
6 | Alton Children's Theater, and was a member of the Godfrey | ||||||
7 | Women's Club; she also enjoyed embroidery, cross stitching, and | ||||||
8 | sewing; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was preceded in death by her parents, | ||||||
10 | Marjorie and Lambert Hoffman; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Godar is survived by her husband of 52 | ||||||
12 | years, Neil J. Godar; her children, Joseph (Denise) Godar, | ||||||
13 | Donna (Scott) Taul, Debbie Godar and her friend, Scot Lang, | ||||||
14 | Lisa (Carmon) Taylor, Cindy (Joel) Curry; her 17 grandchildren, | ||||||
15 | Tyler and Ryan Godar, Nathan Taul, Kelsey (Nathan) Schulz, | ||||||
16 | Jessica and Jared Taul, Ashley (Sam) McKinney, Amber | ||||||
17 | (Johnathan) Jordan, Christian Shank, Sabrina and Matthew | ||||||
18 | Fairless, Morgan and Sydney Giron, Veronica and Anakin Taylor, | ||||||
19 | and Austin and Hannah Curry; and her siblings, William (Nancy) | ||||||
20 | Bensman, Bonnie Mills, Walter (Ginger) Bensman Jr., and Mary | ||||||
21 | Lee Bensman; therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
