2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Judge Robert K. McQueen of Lindenhurst, | ||||||
4 | formerly of Gurnee, who passed away on April 3, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen was born in Farragut, Iowa to | ||||||
6 | Benjamin and Bessie McQueen on April 12, 1920; he was raised on | ||||||
7 | a farm by his mother who was widowed when he was three; he held | ||||||
8 | undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from George Washington | ||||||
9 | University; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen was a Special Agent of the Federal | ||||||
11 | Bureau of Investigation; he retired as Senior Resident Agent at | ||||||
12 | Waukegan after 25 years and became an assistant state's | ||||||
13 | attorney for Lake County and was an adjunct professor of legal | ||||||
14 | courses at the now Gateway Institute in Kenosha, Wisconsin; he | ||||||
15 | was appointed to the Illinois 19th Judicial District as an | ||||||
16 | associate judge in 1972 where he later served as circuit and | ||||||
17 | chief judge; and

18 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen was a member of the Illinois Bar | ||||||
19 | Association and a member and past President of the Lake County | ||||||
20 | Bar Association; he was a member of the Society of Former | ||||||
21 | Agents of the FBI, the Gurnee Community Church, and the Honest | ||||||
22 | Johns Club in Waukegan; he was a former member of the Boy |

1 | Scouts of America Troop 77 in Gurnee, the Halfway House | ||||||
2 | Advisory Board, the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee of Lake | ||||||
3 | County College, the Gurnee Lions and Exchange Clubs, and the | ||||||
4 | Palmento Pine Country Club of Cape Coral, Florida, where he | ||||||
5 | wintered; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen was a commissioned Naval officer in | ||||||
7 | World War II and was honored by the Village of Gurnee in 1982 | ||||||
8 | for service to the community; he was recognized by the Illinois | ||||||
9 | Bar Association in 2000 as a Senior Counsellor after 50 years | ||||||
10 | of membership; his work in the FBI investigating Soviet | ||||||
11 | espionage in the late 1940s and early 1950s was featured in the | ||||||
12 | book "Bombshell" and two television documentaries; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen was preceded in death by his wife of | ||||||
14 | 67 years, Harriet (Peggy) McQueen; his parents; and his | ||||||
15 | brother, Wayland; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Judge McQueen is survived by his son, Thomas | ||||||
17 | (Janet) McQueen; his daughter, Jane (Robert) Lindquist; and | ||||||
18 | five grandchildren, Allison McQueen, Alexander McQueen, Andrew | ||||||
19 | McQueen, Ashely Lindquist, and Anna Lindquist; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Judge Robert K. McQueen, and extend our sincere condolences to |

1 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
2 | further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Judge McQueen as an expression of | ||||||
5 | our deepest sympathy.
