SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" McCluskey of Deerfield,
who passed away on June 19, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey was born on September 9, 1956; he
was the son of Eugene and Marilyn McCluskey and the brother to
Mary Ellen, Kathy, Pat, Terri, Joe, and Gerry; and
WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey was an accomplished lawyer and
dealmaker, who truly cherished all the relationships he made
during his career; and
WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey enjoyed summer concerts at
Ravinia, ballgames at Wrigley Field, and escaping the cold to
his home in Naples, Florida; he loved a good joke and enjoyed
spending time planning elaborate tricks on his 16 nieces and
nephews; and
WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey was known for being a strong man
with a big heart, who never met a stranger; he never let his
diagnosis slow him down, and he used his own experience to help
mentor and inspire others who shared his type of cancer; he
will be missed; and

WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey was preceded in death by his wife
of 30 years, Maryellen, and his parents; and
WHEREAS, Gene McCluskey is survived by his son, Michael E.
McCluskey; his daughter-in-law, Blair McCluskey; and his furry
grandson, Otis McCluskey; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Eugene "Gene" McCluskey and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Gene McCluskey as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
