2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Carl J. Neiss of Johnsonburg, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on March 22, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss was born in Woodstock to Peter and | ||||||
6 | Theresa (Freund) Neiss on October 6, 1928; he was a graduate of | ||||||
7 | McHenry High School and served in the United States Army as a | ||||||
8 | Corporal from 1955 to 1957; he married Diane Marie Freund on | ||||||
9 | September 29, 1951; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss worked for ComEd for over 40 years, | ||||||
11 | retiring in 1989 as foreman; he was nicknamed, "Spike"; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss was a member of the McHenry High School | ||||||
13 | Athletic Hall of Fame; in 1946, he played on the McHenry County | ||||||
14 | All-Stars Team against the Chicago Bears in a game benefitting | ||||||
15 | the March of Dimes; he also played on the McHenry Co-op Team in | ||||||
16 | a basketball game against the Harlem Globetrotters; he was a | ||||||
17 | member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Basketball Hall of | ||||||
18 | Fame; and

19 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss was very active in the Johnsburg and | ||||||
20 | McHenry communities; he was a member of the Catholic Order of | ||||||
21 | Foresters, the Community Club of Johnsonburg, and a past member |

1 | of the McHenry School Board; he was a member of St. John the | ||||||
2 | Baptist Catholic Church, where he also served on the school | ||||||
3 | board; he also served as a firefighter with the McHenry | ||||||
4 | Volunteer Fire Department; and

5 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, | ||||||
6 | softball, basketball, football, baseball, and spending time | ||||||
7 | with his family and friends; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
9 | and his brother, Norman Neiss; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Carl Neiss is survived by his wife of 65 years, | ||||||
11 | Diane Neiss; his children, Randy (Cathy) Neiss, Monica (Rick) | ||||||
12 | Marsh, and Rick Neiss; his grandchildren, Ryan (Amy), Kyle | ||||||
13 | (Steph), Shane (Amanda), and Kelly Neiss, Michael (Courtney), | ||||||
14 | Daniel (Stephanie), and Jacob Marsh, and Jourdan (Carlo | ||||||
15 | Englise), Tayelor, and Troy Neiss; his great-grandchildren, | ||||||
16 | Gavin, Collin, Quinn, Emma, Sam, and Brynn Neiss, Lydia and | ||||||
17 | Luke Marsh, and Lia Ducy; his sister-in-law, Marguerite Neiss; | ||||||
18 | his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Char and Cal Ash; and | ||||||
19 | many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Carl J. Neiss, and extend our sincere condolences to his |

1 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Carl Neiss as an expression of our | ||||||
