SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Rev. Louis A. Barnes of Pembroke
4Township, who passed away on June 5, 2021; and
5 WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was born in Thomastown, Mississippi
6to Willie and Ella Mae (Mitchell) Barnes on November 29, 1930;
7he served in the U.S. Army as a private during the Korean War;
8and
9 WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was the pastor at St. Anne Woods
10Community Chapel in Pembroke Township; he was a resident of
11the Pembroke Township area for 46 years and had been a pastor
12for more than 46 years; he was also a trustee for the Village
13of Hopkins Park; and
14 WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was a member of NABVETS 0084 Pembroke
15Township Chapter; his hobbies included singing, playing
16guitar, listening to Jazz music, and spending time with family
17and church members and members of his community; and
18 WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife,
19Juanita Barnes; his son, Cleophus Barnes; one granddaughter;
20and seven siblings; and

1 WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes is survived by his daughters, Ruebena
2Parnell, Vanessa (Tommie) Goss, and Yolanda Barnes; his
3sister, Warden Stokes; his brothers, Marcus, Robert (Fannie),
4and Lester (Essie) Barnes; 11 grandchildren; 24
5great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren;
6therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Rev. Louis A. Barnes and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Rev. Barnes as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
