2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Albert Dimitri Wylie of Peoria, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 29, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie was born to Albert R. and Jessie | ||||||
6 | Pickett Wylie in Peoria on October 5, 1929; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Peoria High School in 1948 and later took courses at Bradley | ||||||
8 | University and Illinois Central College; he married his loving | ||||||
9 | wife Eleanor in 1974; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie first worked at Statesville | ||||||
11 | Correctional Center in Crest Hill for a short time; he then | ||||||
12 | worked at Illinois Bell before being hired at Caterpillar; he | ||||||
13 | retired as a security and fire inspector in 1989 after 27 years | ||||||
14 | with the company; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, After taking an early retirement, Albert Wylie | ||||||
16 | remained active volunteering as an escort at UnityPoint Health | ||||||
17 | Methodist for many years, taking care of extended family, and | ||||||
18 | working with his aunt as a massage therapist; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie was a member of the Lion's Club, the | ||||||
20 | Firefighters Association, the Peoria Housing Authority, the | ||||||
21 | National Democratic Association, the NAACP, and the Peoria |

1 | Riverfront Museum;
he was a long-time member of Zion Baptist | ||||||
2 | Church where he sang in the Inspirational Choir and was a | ||||||
3 | trustee; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, To preserve the Wylie family legacy, Albert Wylie | ||||||
5 | submitted family photos to the Southern Historical Collection | ||||||
6 | at the Wilson Library at the University of North Carolina at | ||||||
7 | Chapel Hill and created the Minnie Wylie Graves Scholarship in | ||||||
8 | health careers at Illinois Central College; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie enjoyed discussing current events, | ||||||
10 | politics, and history; he was an avid reader and especially | ||||||
11 | loved mysteries and thrillers; he loved going to the movies, | ||||||
12 | and his favorite TV show was Law and Order; he and his wife | ||||||
13 | watched Wheel of Fortune regularly and enjoyed traveling by | ||||||
14 | train across the U.S.; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | grandparents, Thomas A. and Jessie Wylie; his parents; his | ||||||
17 | sister, Charlotte Luey; his cousin, Ramona McGavock; and his | ||||||
18 | aunt, Minnie Graves; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Albert Wylie is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
20 | daughter, Staci R. Wylie; his aunt, Alice Spotser (Pickett); | ||||||
21 | and his brother-in-law, Sherald Gordon; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Albert Dimitri Wylie and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
4 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Albert Wylie as an expression of our | ||||||
8 | deepest sympathy.
