2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Richard Duane Samuelson of Orion, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 27, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Duane Samuelson was born to Edward Reuben and | ||||||
6 | Dora J. (Lawson) Samuelson in Moline on May 21, 1927; he served | ||||||
7 | in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953; he married Geraldine Love | ||||||
8 | at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion on June 7, 1953; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Duane Samuelson and his wife farmed until their | ||||||
10 | later years; after his retirement, he continued to help his | ||||||
11 | sons farm; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Duane Samuelson enjoyed bowling and the Chicago | ||||||
13 | Tribune crossword puzzle; he was an avid Chicago Cubs and | ||||||
14 | Bears fan; he always had a smile on his face and made time to | ||||||
15 | visit with family and friends; he was patient and was focused | ||||||
16 | on the best interests of those around him; he was lovingly | ||||||
17 | called Uncle Bud or Sam by family and friends; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Duane Samuelson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
19 | parents; his wife; his sister, Loretta Parrish; and his | ||||||
20 | nephew, Rod Parrish; and

1 | WHEREAS, Duane Samuelson is survived by his sons, Terry | ||||||
2 | Samuelson and Keith (Lisa) Samuelson; his grandchildren, Alex | ||||||
3 | Samuelson and Ann Marie Samuelson; and his many nieces and | ||||||
4 | nephews; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Richard Duane Samuelson and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
8 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Duane Samuelson as an expression of | ||||||
12 | our deepest sympathy.
