2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Scott Holtan of Coal Valley, formerly | ||||||
4 | of Thor, Iowa, who passed away on March 7, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa to | ||||||
6 | Roger and Lois Holtan on October 2, 1958; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Eagle Grove High School in 1977, where he was involved in music | ||||||
8 | and plays; he joined the U.S. Navy after graduation and served | ||||||
9 | aboard the submarines USS Lewis and Clark and USS Francis | ||||||
10 | Scott Key for six years; he married Barbara Fritz in 1982, and | ||||||
11 | they later divorced; he married Anne Raymond in 2000; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan worked in computer repair and | ||||||
13 | customer service for 37 years; most recently, he provided | ||||||
14 | support at John Deere locations through Cognizant IT | ||||||
15 | Solutions; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan raised two autistic sons, Ryan and | ||||||
17 | Tyler; he always wore autism awareness t-shirts to spread | ||||||
18 | awareness on a daily basis and supported the Royal Ball Run for | ||||||
19 | Autism; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan had a passion for serving others; he | ||||||
21 | volunteered every Saturday in the food pantry at All Saints |

1 | Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa, where he was a member for | ||||||
2 | over 25 years; he never met a stranger and always had a smile | ||||||
3 | or joke; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents; his sister, Julie Anna Holtan-Taylor; his brother, | ||||||
6 | Randy Holtan; his infant siblings, Sara Louise, Angela Kaye, | ||||||
7 | and Thomas Scott Holtan; and his grandparents, Rev. Halvor and | ||||||
8 | Inger Bakke and Gilman and Edna Holtan; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Scott Holtan is survived by his wife, Anne; his | ||||||
10 | sons, Ryan and Tyler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron | ||||||
11 | and Marilyn Raymond; his sister, Maria (Kurt) Olson; his | ||||||
12 | sisters-in-law, Linda Holtan, Amy (Douglas) Zdansky, and | ||||||
13 | Alissa (Martin) Oliva; his brother-in-law, AJ Taylor; his | ||||||
14 | aunts and uncles, Mark (Shirley) Holtan, Tim (Dixie Long) | ||||||
15 | Holtan, and Bonnie Holtan; his nieces and nephews, Alissa | ||||||
16 | (Mike) Williamson, Brittany (Andy) Struecker, Craig (Lolly) | ||||||
17 | Olson, Adam (Megan) Olson, Connor and Cody Holtan, Jakoby | ||||||
18 | Veronda, Alec (Alli) Veronda, and Emilio, Audi, and Ella | ||||||
19 | Oliva; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Scarlett, Julia, | ||||||
20 | Walker, Autumn, Anna, Jackson, Ryker, Eden, and Carter; and | ||||||
21 | many cousins and special friends; therefore, be it

23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Scott Holtan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
2 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
