SENATE RESOLUTION



2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Alvin Don Carlton, who passed away on 
4November 4, 2020; and


5 WHEREAS, Don Carlton was born to John E. and Mary E. 
6(Martin) Carlton in Calhoun County on September 16, 1934; he 
7married Catherine Elizabeth Hoaglin in Pittsfield on June 20, 
81953; and


9 WHEREAS, Don Carlton worked as a tow motor operator for 
10Laclede Steel for 30 years; after his retirement, he became a 
11laborer for the street department of the Village of East 
12Alton; and


13 WHEREAS, Don Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; 
14his wife; his grandson, Jonah Naylor; his brothers, John E. 
15and Delbert Berdette Carlton; his sisters, Dorlene 
16Hendrickson, Lily Mae Waggoner, and Edna Johnson; and his 
17son-in-law, Mike Cobbel; and


18 WHEREAS, Don Carlton is survived by his son, Darren 
19(Robin) Carlton; his daughters, Robin Cobbel and Cathy 
20Carlton; his seven grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; 
21and his brother, Merlin W. Carlton; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Alvin Don Carlton and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further


6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

7presented to the family of Don Carlton as an expression of
our 
8deepest sympathy.
