| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Owen R. Lindsey of Centralia, formerly | ||||||
4 | of Peoria, who passed away on February 23, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey was born to Terrence and Jane "BJ" | ||||||
6 | (Dobbins) Lindsey in Normal on January 26, 1999; during his | ||||||
7 | freshman year at Richwoods High School, he wrestled on the | ||||||
8 | junior varsity team; he transferred to Kiefer School the | ||||||
9 | following year, where he received the Cougar of the Month | ||||||
10 | award and performed in the talent show; he graduated from | ||||||
11 | Kiefer School and Canton High School in 2019; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Through Kiefer School's transitional employment | ||||||
13 | program, Owen Lindsey participated and excelled in his | ||||||
14 | lunchroom jobs; he later attained a position as a dishwasher | ||||||
15 | at the Suite Fire Bar and Grille at the Holiday Inn & Suites at | ||||||
16 | Grand Prairie, where he worked for almost three years; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey was a Cub Scout in Pack 11 of West | ||||||
18 | Peoria; he wrestled for the Peoria Razorbacks youth wrestling | ||||||
19 | team, becoming a state qualifier at the Illinois Kids | ||||||
20 | Wrestling Federation (IKWF) tournament in 2013 and 2014; he | ||||||
21 | enjoyed participating in the monthly social gatherings of | ||||||
22 | People with Unlimited Potential (PUP) and was a member of the |

1 | Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey had many leisure interests, | ||||||
3 | including Star Wars, cartoons, local TV news stations and | ||||||
4 | their personnel, comic book superheroes, history, classic | ||||||
5 | movies, farm stuff, cars, and sports; he enjoyed collecting | ||||||
6 | Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, and he loved collecting baseball | ||||||
7 | hats; he was an avid fan of Bradley University sports teams and | ||||||
8 | the Peoria Rivermen; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey embraced life with an open mind, a | ||||||
10 | loving heart, and a sense of wonder; he loved deeply and was | ||||||
11 | deeply loved; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey was preceded in death by his | ||||||
13 | paternal grandfather, Junior Lindsey; his maternal | ||||||
14 | grandparents, Dale and Leslie Dobbins; his uncle, Steve | ||||||
15 | Stella; and his cats, Fenway, Starbuck, and Xev; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Owen Lindsey is survived by his parents; his | ||||||
17 | brother, Ross (fiancée, Emily Sjurseth) Lindsey; his paternal | ||||||
18 | grandmother, Jo Ann Lindsey; his maternal grandmother, Jane | ||||||
19 | Dobbins; his uncles, Dick (Norma) Lindsey, Joe (Claudia) | ||||||
20 | Lindsey, Steve (Kim) Dobbins, and Jim (Emily) Dobbins; his | ||||||
21 | aunt, Cathy (the late Steve) Stella; his several cousins; his | ||||||
22 | large extended family; and his cats, Kira, Lili, and Castiel; |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

4 | Owen R. Lindsey and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
5 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
6 | further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

8 | presented to the family of Owen Lindsey as an expression of
