SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Brazinski Pork Farm of Coulterville received
3the 2021 Illinois Pork Producers Association Family of the
4Year Award; and
5 WHEREAS, The Brazinski Pork Farm produces 34,000 market
6hogs per year and runs a row crop farming operation that
7includes 2,200 acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat; and
8 WHEREAS, The Brazinski Pork Farm is a family farm and is
9led by Jim Brazinski; he is president of the pig production
10companies Grand View Farm and Grand Tower Farm and a service
11agency Corn Silk LLC and owns Brazinski Pork Farm; and
12 WHEREAS, Jim Brazinski's family has an extensive farming
13background; the maternal side of his family arrived in the
14U.S. in the 1850s; his paternal family fled Lithuania due to
15political tensions; his grandfather established the family
16farm in Coulterville in the 1920s; and
17 WHEREAS, Jim Brazinski's parents raised their children
18along with many animals on their farm; his brother began
19raising hogs for a 4-H project in 1966; and
20 WHEREAS, Jim Brazinski graduated from SIU Carbondale in

11984 and started constructing more hog buildings on their
2family farm with the family doing most of the construction to
3keep costs down; they still build a lot of equipment in their
4shop today; and
5 WHEREAS, In 2006, upon the suggestion of Dr. Bill Hollis,
6the Brazinski Family Farm joined a sow farm to improve the
7consistency of their pig flows and to be able to raise larger
8groups of pigs all the same age; and
9 WHEREAS, Family has always been a huge part of the
10Brazinski Pork Farm values; Jim Brazinski and his siblings
11continue to make sure that their mother, who has Alzheimer's
12disease, is taken care of along with their father; and
13 WHEREAS, After several failed attempts to use caregiving
14agencies, the Brazinski family decided to form a small LLC
15called Corn Silk and hire their own caregivers; they formed
16Corn Silk with the belief that care needed to be
17compassionate, reliable, and the best possible for their
18parents; and
19 WHEREAS, The farm currently employs six full-time
20employees and two part-time employees and has a total of four
21farms that contract finish hogs for the Brazinski family; and

1 WHEREAS, The Brazinski family continues to strive to
2produce the best possible pork; and
3 WHEREAS, A 13-year member of the Marissa School Board, Jim
4Brazinski is an avid volunteer and is a member of St. Anthony's
5Lively Grove Catholic Church; he remains grateful, especially
6when reminded of the hardships that his family has had to
7endure; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare November 2,
102021 as Brazinski Family Farm Day; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the Brazinski family as a sign of our respect and
13esteem.
