1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of William M. Mihm of Rock Island, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 21, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, William Mihm was born in Walton to Martin and | ||||||
6 | Frances Morrissey Mihm on January 29, 1935; he played | ||||||
7 | basketball at the University of Dayton, where he played in the | ||||||
8 | N.I.T. at Madison Square Garden; he served in Korea with the | ||||||
9 | United States Army and married Sylvia Kadlec in Berwyn on May | ||||||
10 | 6, 1961; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, William Mihm started working at the former INA | ||||||
12 | (Cigna) in 1960; he later was a partner at the H.H. Cleveland | ||||||
13 | Agency in Rock Island for 15 years and then owned the Mihm | ||||||
14 | Agency in Rock Island for 10 years; in 2001, he retired from | ||||||
15 | the Iowa Bankers Association where he worked for 10 years; and

16 | WHEREAS, William Mihm was a member of St. Pius X Catholic | ||||||
17 | Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Acolyte and | ||||||
18 | served on the Parish Council; he was a past member of the | ||||||
19 | Arsenal and Pinnacle Country Clubs and was a member of the | ||||||
20 | Outing Club; he served on the Board of Directors at St. | ||||||
21 | Anthony's Hospital and the former Franciscan Hospital; and

1 | WHEREAS, William Mihm enjoyed visiting Siesta Key and Las | ||||||
2 | Vegas and loved following his grandsons basketball games; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, William Mihm was preceded in death by his | ||||||
4 | sister-in-law, Judy, and his niece, Tracy; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, William Mihm is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his | ||||||
6 | children, Ann (Greg) Tweedy, Mike (Karen) Mihm, and Patti Mihm; | ||||||
7 | his grandsons, Joey, Peter, Will, Henry, and Jack Mihm; his | ||||||
8 | sister, Ann (Bill) Hellman; his brothers, Dr. Martin (Nancy) | ||||||
9 | Mihm, and the Honorable Michael Mihm; and many nieces and | ||||||
10 | nephews; therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | William M. Mihm, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
14 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
15 | further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of William Mihm as an expression of our | ||||||
18 | deepest sympathy.
