SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Joseph M. "Joe" Ambrose of Mahomet,
formerly of LeRoy, who passed away on January 4, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Joe Ambrose was born in Peoria to Joseph J. and
Charlotte M. Mittendorf Ambrose on July 28, 1957; he moved with
his family to LeRoy in 1967, where he met his future wife, and
they both graduated from LeRoy High School in 1975; he earned a
bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois in
1979, and married Julienne "Julie" Epperson in LeRoy on June
21, 1989; he then earned a law degree from Indiana University
in 1982 and a master's in business administration from
Northwestern University in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Joe Ambrose began his career as a lawyer with
Bane, Allison, & Saint in 1982; he later worked for Saint &
Ambrose, Hinshaw & Culbertson, and Costigan & Wollrab; in 2006,
he joined Horizon Hobby and became C.E.O. in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Joe Ambrose was a member of the Board of Directors
for First Busey Corporation, St. Mary Church in Downs, and the
Champaign Country Club; he and Julie traveled frequently and
visited 20 countries, Disney World, and their grandchildren; he
loved motorcycles, reading, and spending time with friends and

family; and
WHEREAS, Joe Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents
and his brother, Gregory R. Ambrose; and
WHEREAS, Joe Ambrose is survived by his wife, Julie; his
children, Joseph Jacob (Danielle) Ambrose, Benjamin Matthew
Ambrose, Bradley Conard (Sarah) Ambrose, and Megan Leta (David)
Jones; his eight grandchildren; his brother, James (Kathryn)
Ambrose; and his sisters, Julie Ambrose, Mary Ambrose, and
Margaret Ambrose; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Joseph M. "Joe" Ambrose and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Joe Ambrose as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
