SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Bernard Hardy of Danville, who
4passed away on January 8, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, James Hardy was born in Georgetown to James John
6and Gladys Julia Wells Hardy on August 2, 1935; he married
7Sharon Lou Bednar in Westville on August 16, 1958; and
8 WHEREAS, James Hardy worked for Bohn Aluminum; he was also
9elected president of Local 1271 and represented over 5,000
10members and served as bargaining chairman; and
11 WHEREAS, James Hardy served on the Vermilion County Board
12for many years, where he held several roles, including
13Parliamentarian, Judicial Committee Chair, and Rules Committee
14Chair; he was also an active member of the County Board's
15Nursing Home and Transportation Committees and was known to be
16"persistent in his causes"; he was a member of the Danville
17Barbershoppers, Danville Moose Club, and was president of the
18Lynch Parents Club for a time; he enjoyed playing baseball,
19going to flea markets and auctions, and working in his yard;
20and
21 WHEREAS, James Hardy was preceded in death by his brother;

2 WHEREAS, James Hardy is survived by his wife, Sharon; his
3daughters, Christine Massey and Martina (John) Grites; his
4grandchildren, Kelly, Joshua, Jamie, Jenna, and Will; his
5great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Alexander, Augustus, and Bentley;
6and one great-grandchild on the way, Wilson; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James Bernard Hardy and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of James Hardy as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
