SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Peter Whitcomb of Des Plaines,
4formerly of Evanston, who passed away on January 4, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, James Whitcomb was born to Julius and Rose
6(Loizzo) Whitcomb in Evanston on July 22, 1941; he served in
7the U.S. Army National Guard; and
8 WHEREAS, Since 1982, James Whitcomb was a board member of
9the Des Plaines History Center; during this time, he served as
10the organization's president, vice president, and secretary;
11and
12 WHEREAS, James Whitcomb was preceded in death by his
13parents; his brother, John Whitcomb; and his sister, Geraldine
14Rhein; and
15 WHEREAS, James Whitcomb is survived by his wife of 40
16years, Vickie (Therrien) Whitcomb; his son, James P. (Rachel)
17Whitcomb Jr.; his grandchildren, Jack and Olivia Whitcomb and
18Alex Booker; and his brothers, Thomas and Charles; therefore,
19be it

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2James Peter Whitcomb and extend our sincere condolences to his
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of James Whitcomb as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
