Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Defines "probation officer". Provides that the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board may initiate, administer, and conduct firearm certification courses for probation officers. Effective immediately.

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3375 on page 4 by | ||||||
3 | inserting immediately below line 19 the following:

4 | "Section 10. The Probation and Probation Officers Act is | ||||||
5 | amended by adding Section 17 as follows:

6 | (730 ILCS 110/17 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 17. Authorization to carry weapons. Probation | ||||||
8 | officers may only carry weapons while in the performance of | ||||||
9 | their official duties, or while commuting between their homes, | ||||||
10 | places of employment, or specific locations that are part of | ||||||
11 | their assigned duties, provided they have received the prior | ||||||
12 | consent of the chief judge of the circuit for which they are | ||||||
13 | employed, and they have received weapons training according to | ||||||
14 | requirements of the Peace Officer Firearm Training Act. ".
