Bill Title: Amends the Election Code. Provides that a person commits a Class A misdemeanor if the person, with intent to injure a candidate or influence the result of an election, creates a deep fake video (a video created with the intent to deceive that appears to depict a real person performing an action that did not occur in reality) and causes the deep fake video to be published or distributed within 30 days of an election.

AN ACT concerning elections.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section
29-21 as follows:
(10 ILCS 5/29-21 new)
Sec. 29-21. Deep fake videos.
(a) As used in this Section, "deep fake video" means a
video created, with the intent to deceive, that appears to
depict a real person performing an action that did not occur in
reality.
(b) A person commits a Class A misdemeanor if the person,
with intent to injure a candidate or influence the result of an
election:
(1) creates a deep fake video; and
(2) causes the deep fake video to be published or
distributed within 30 days of an election.
