Bill Title: Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital shall maintain a metal detector at each point of entry into the hospital. Provides that a hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. Provides that individuals subject to screening shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs. Defines "point of entry". Effective July 1, 2018.

Provides that a hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. 1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is
5amended by adding Section 6.7 as follows:
6 (110 ILCS 330/6.7 new)
7 Sec. 6.7. Metal detectors required. As used in this
8Section, "point of entry" means an entrance accessible to the
9public. "Point of entry" does not include ambulance entrances.
10 The University of Illinois Hospital shall maintain a metal
11detector at each point of entry into the University of Illinois
12Hospital. The University of Illinois Hospital shall ensure that
13all members of the public, other than the employees of the
14University of Illinois Hospital who display proper
15credentials, who enter the University of Illinois Hospital at a
16point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector.
17Individuals subject to screening under this Section shall
18include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs.
19 Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding
20Section 7.7 as follows:
