1 AN ACT concerning health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
5Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 1-106 as
6follows:
7 (405 ILCS 5/1-106) (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 1-106)
8 Sec. 1-106. "Developmental disability" means a disability
9which is attributable to: (a) mental retardation, cerebral
10palsy, epilepsy or autism; or to (b) any other condition which
11results in impairment similar to that that caused by mental
12retardation and which requires services similar to those
13required by mentally retarded persons. Such disability must
14originate before the age of 18 years, be expected to continue
15indefinitely, and constitute a substantial handicap.
