Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Provides that a board of trustees may (i) appoint a non-resident or a resident that has not resided in the district for one year to be a highway commissioner, or (ii) contract with a neighboring township to provide highway commissioner services if: (1) the district is within a township with no incorporated town; (2) the township is a population of less than 500; and (3) no qualified candidate who has resided in the township for at least one year is willing to serve as highway commissioner.

AN ACT concerning transportation.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by changing | ||||
Section 6-115 as follows:

Sec. 6-115.
| ||||
(a) Except as provided in Section 10-20 of the Township | ||||
Code or subsection (b) , no
person shall be eligible to the | ||||
office of highway
commissioner unless he shall be a legal voter | ||||
and has been one year a
resident of the district. In road | ||||
districts that elect a clerk the same
limitation shall apply to | ||||
the district clerk.
