Bill Title: Amends the Lobbyist Registration Act. Provides that no State employee or official, while employed by the State or serving as an appointee of the State, shall negotiate for employment or other compensation with any person or entity that is registered or required to be registered as a lobbyist or lobbying entity under the Act. Provides that no former State employee or official, within a period of one year immediately after termination of State employment, shall accept employment or compensation from any person or entity for lobbying State government.

1 | AN ACT concerning State government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Lobbyist Registration Act is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | adding Section 3.5 as follows:

6 | (25 ILCS 170/3.5 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 3.5. Revolving door ban. | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | (a) No State employee or official, while employed by the | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | State or serving as an appointee of the State, shall negotiate | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | for employment or other compensation with any person or entity | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | that is registered or required to be registered as a lobbyist | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | or lobbying entity under this Act. | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | (b) No former State employee or official, within a period | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | of one year immediately after termination of State employment, | |||||||||||||||||||
