1 AN ACT concerning revenue.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Telecommunications Infrastructure
5Maintenance Fee Act is amended by changing Section 27.5 as
6follows:
7 (35 ILCS 635/27.5)
8 Sec. 27.5. Books and Records. Every telecommunications
9retailer under this Act shall keep books, records, papers, and
10and other documents that are adequate to reflect the
11information which such telecommunications retailers are
12required by this Act to report to the Department by filing
13monthly returns with the Department. All books and records and
14other papers and documents required by this Act to be kept
15shall be kept in the English language and shall, at all times
16during business hours of the day, be subject to inspection by
17the Department or its duly authorized agents and employees.
18Books and records reflecting gross charges received during any
19period with respect to which the Department is authorized to
20establish liability as provided by this Act shall be preserved
21until the expiration of such period unless the Department, in
22writing, authorizes their destruction or disposal at an earlier
23date.

1 The Department may, upon written authorization of the
2Director, destroy any returns or any records, papers, or
3memoranda pertaining to such returns upon the expiration of any
4period covered by such returns with respect to which the
5Department is authorized to establish liability.
