HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Gregg Davis for
4receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from
5the Illinois Rural Health Association; and
6 WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across
7our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural
8areas; and
9 WHEREAS, In 1978, Dr. Gregg Davis graduated from the
10University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria; he went
11on to complete his residency in 1981 at the Rockford Medical
12Education Foundation and completed his Master of Business
13Administration in 1981 from the University of Massachusetts
14Isenberg School of Management; and
15 WHEREAS, Dr. Gregg Davis has vast practice experience in
16adult medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics
17obstetrics, emergency medicine, and industrial medicine; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Gregg Davis serves patients at St. Margaret's
19Hospital in Spring Valley and at Perry Memorial Hospital in
20Princeton, where he started in 1981 and currently serves as CEO
21and President; he has treated generations of local families in

1private practice through both Princeton Family Physicians and
2Gregg E. Davis, M.D., LLD since 1981; and
3 WHEREAS, Family medicine is a "family affair" at the Davis
4household, with his wife Renee working alongside him as a nurse
5and the practice set up as an extension of their home; and
6 WHEREAS, Since 2011, Dr. Gregg Davis has been an active
7member of the Bureau County Board of Public Health, which has
8expanded to serve residents of both Putnam and Marshall
9Counties; and
10 WHEREAS, Due to his excellent clinical and business
11management skills, Dr. Gregg Davis was asked in 2014 to serve
12as Chief Medical Officer for the Illinois Rural Community Care
13Organization, a newly-formed Accountable Care Organization
14comprised of 21 critical access hospitals; and
15 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Dr. Gregg Davis, the
16Illinois Rural Community Care Organization has established
17medical working groups comprised of physicians and nurse
18practitioners developing the best working protocols for
19diabetes, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive
20pulmonary disease for rural communities; he also developed a
21Medicare medical well visit template which is now in widespread
22use keeping seniors healthier; and

1 WHEREAS, Dr. Gregg Davis is responsible for the Illinois
2Rural Community Care Organization being the catalyst for a
3better rural healthcare system statewide; he and his wife are
4dedicated to serving their community, creating an invaluable
5asset to the residents of Bureau County; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8commend Dr. Gregg Davis for his selfless service and the impact
9he has made on improving rural health; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Dr. Gregg Davis as a symbol of our respect and
12esteem.
