| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the people of the Republic | ||||||
| 4 | of China (Taiwan) on the occasion of the celebration of their | ||||||
| 5 | 105th National Day; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, National Day, as known as Double Ten Day, is the | ||||||
| 7 | national day of the Republic of China (Taiwan); the day | ||||||
| 8 | commemorates the start of the Wuch'ang Uprising of October 10, | ||||||
| 9 | 1911, which led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China | ||||||
| 10 | and the establishment of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on | ||||||
| 11 | January 1, 1912, with Dr. Sun Yat-sen as its first president; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, On every National Day, the people of the Republic | ||||||
| 14 | of China (Taiwan) and overseas Chinese from around the world | ||||||
| 15 | come together to cheer the nation on its celebration through | ||||||
| 16 | numerous events, including a military review, a national | ||||||
| 17 | parade, fireworks displays, the National Day concert, and a | ||||||
| 18 | Presidential Address; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The members of this body stand with the people of | ||||||
| 20 | the Republic of China (Taiwan) in celebrating the anniversary | ||||||
| 21 | of the founding of their proud nation, which stands as a beacon | ||||||
| 22 | of democratic governance and integrity for Asia and the world | ||||||

| 1 | at large; therefore, be it

| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 3 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 4 | congratulate the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on | ||||||
| 5 | the occasion of the celebration of their 105th National Day and | ||||||
| 6 | wish them continued success and happiness in their future | ||||||
| 7 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and | ||||||
| 10 | Cultural Office in Chicago as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 11 | respect.
