HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the people of the Republic
4of China (Taiwan) on the occasion of the celebration of their
5105th National Day; and
6 WHEREAS, National Day, as known as Double Ten Day, is the
7national day of the Republic of China (Taiwan); the day
8commemorates the start of the Wuch'ang Uprising of October 10,
91911, which led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China
10and the establishment of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on
11January 1, 1912, with Dr. Sun Yat-sen as its first president;
12and
13 WHEREAS, On every National Day, the people of the Republic
14of China (Taiwan) and overseas Chinese from around the world
15come together to cheer the nation on its celebration through
16numerous events, including a military review, a national
17parade, fireworks displays, the National Day concert, and a
18Presidential Address; and
19 WHEREAS, The members of this body stand with the people of
20the Republic of China (Taiwan) in celebrating the anniversary
21of the founding of their proud nation, which stands as a beacon
22of democratic governance and integrity for Asia and the world

2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4congratulate the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on
5the occasion of the celebration of their 105th National Day and
6wish them continued success and happiness in their future
7endeavors; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and
10Cultural Office in Chicago as a symbol of our esteem and
11respect.
