2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize Illinois State | ||||||
4 | Representative Dennis Reboletti for his 8 years of service and | ||||||
5 | hard work on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti, a life-long resident of | ||||||
7 | Elmhurst, has had a distinguished career in public service; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti is a 1986 graduate of | ||||||
9 | York Community High School and earned his bachelor's degree in | ||||||
10 | political science at Eastern Illinois University in 1990; after | ||||||
11 | serving as a Deputy Addison Township Assessor, he decided to | ||||||
12 | attend law school and was admitted to the Valparaiso University | ||||||
13 | College of Law; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Upon his graduation from law school, | ||||||
15 | Representative Reboletti was appointed an Assistant Attorney | ||||||
16 | General under then-Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan and was | ||||||
17 | responsible for defending the Illinois Department of | ||||||
18 | Corrections from inmate lawsuits; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti later served as an | ||||||
20 | Assistant State's Attorney in Will County for 8 years, | ||||||
21 | prosecuting violent criminals as a member of the office's |

1 | Organized Crime Unit, where he earned membership in Illinois' | ||||||
2 | elite Capital Trial Litigation Bar; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, In the spring of 1997, while still in his third | ||||||
4 | year of law school, Representative Reboletti launched a | ||||||
5 | write-in campaign and was elected as a 2nd Ward Alderman in the | ||||||
6 | City of Elmhurst, later serving as Vice-Chairman of the | ||||||
7 | Development, Planning, and Zoning Committee; in 2000, he was | ||||||
8 | appointed as a Trustee to the Addison Township Board and was | ||||||
9 | elected and re-elected in 2001 and 2005; as a Township Trustee, | ||||||
10 | he served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and also of the | ||||||
11 | Airport Issues Committee; he was the Board's Senior Trustee | ||||||
12 | upon his election to the House of Representatives; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After being elected to the Illinois House of | ||||||
14 | Representatives in 2007, Representative Reboletti quickly | ||||||
15 | caught the attention of House Leadership and was assigned to | ||||||
16 | the prestigious Transportation and Motor Vehicles, Mass | ||||||
17 | Transit, and Judiciary II Committees; he has also since served | ||||||
18 | on the Health Care Availability and Accessibility, Public | ||||||
19 | Utilities, and Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges | ||||||
20 | Committees and as Republican Spokesperson for the Judiciary II | ||||||
21 | Committee; he also took on additional responsibilities as the | ||||||
22 | Republican Spokesperson on the Restorative Justice Committee | ||||||
23 | and as the sole Republican on the Criminal Procedure & | ||||||
24 | Penalties Sub-Committee; and

1 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti worked in many prominent | ||||||
2 | leadership roles during his career in the House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives, including serving as floor leader of the House | ||||||
4 | Republican Caucus, where he regularly raised the level of the | ||||||
5 | debate on many critical issues that arrived on the floor of the | ||||||
6 | House; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti was chosen by his | ||||||
8 | colleagues to serve on the House Republican leadership team as | ||||||
9 | Assistant Minority Leader, where his experience helped shape | ||||||
10 | major public policy initiatives to address serious State | ||||||
11 | issues; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti is an accomplished | ||||||
13 | lawmaker who has worked to strengthen and protect Illinois | ||||||
14 | families and communities, having written and passed a law to | ||||||
15 | create the country's first of its kind murder registry, also | ||||||
16 | known as Andrea's Law, to alert people to when a person who has | ||||||
17 | committed first-degree murder was returning back to their | ||||||
18 | communities; and

19 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti worked closely with | ||||||
20 | Representative Mike McAuliffe to protect families living near | ||||||
21 | O'Hare Airport from excessive jet noise; and

1 | WHEREAS, In addition to practicing law, Representative | ||||||
2 | Reboletti continues to educate prospective law enforcement | ||||||
3 | officers as an Adjunct Instructor in Triton Community College's | ||||||
4 | Criminal Justice Department; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti attends Mary Queen of | ||||||
6 | Heaven Parish in Elmhurst; he is a member of the Addison and | ||||||
7 | York Township Republican Committeeman's Organizations, as well | ||||||
8 | as the Justinian Society of Lawyers; he enjoys spending time | ||||||
9 | with his 13-year old son, Zachary; therefore, be it
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
11 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
12 | we congratulate our friend and colleague, Representative | ||||||
13 | Dennis Reboletti, on his retirement from the Illinois of House | ||||||
14 | of Representatives and wish him the best in his future | ||||||
15 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to Representative Reboletti as a symbol of our | ||||||
18 | respect and esteem.
