2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Elisa Galvan for | ||||||
4 | receiving Harper College's Motorola Solutions Foundation Award | ||||||
5 | for Excellence Scholarship; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Elisa Galvan is a Hoffman Estates resident who | ||||||
7 | dreams of becoming a teacher; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Elisa Galvan is captain of the debate team at | ||||||
9 | Harper College; she began her role as a debater at Schaumburg | ||||||
10 | High School where she was research chairman and led her | ||||||
11 | teammates in researching legislation and public policy | ||||||
12 | measures; by her senior year, she was vice-president and | ||||||
13 | co-captain of the Schaumburg High School debate team; at Harper | ||||||
14 | College, she has parlayed her debate experience into | ||||||
15 | "impromptu" debate competitions and "extemporaneous speaking"; | ||||||
16 | and

17 | WHEREAS, Elisa Galvan hopes to transfer to DePaul | ||||||
18 | University next year to complete her bachelor's degree in | ||||||
19 | education and continue with her speech and debate activities; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it
