HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to recognize the 29th Annual Black & Gold
Scholarship Gala presented by the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable
Foundation, a not-for-profit entity of the Theta Mu Lambda
Chapter - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, This event raises funds in order to provide
educational resources and scholarships to expand scholastic
opportunities for young African American students; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha firmly believes in creating
resources, leadership skills, and tools for youth to realize
their full potential and is dedicated to building a foundation
for the educational and personal development of future leaders;
and
WHEREAS, This year's program theme is "TransforMing Lives:
Commitment to Community and Education"; and
WHEREAS, This year's gala will be held on November 17, 2018
at the Tinley Park Convention Center; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

recognize the 29th Annual Black & Gold Scholarship Gala and we
wish the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation many more years
of success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation as an
expression of our esteem and respect.
