HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jordan
4Goldstein of Gainesville, Florida, formerly of Chicago,
5Carbondale, and Carterville, Illinois, on May 14, 2018; and
6 WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein was born in Chicago to Freida
7Berman and Irv Goldstein on August 7, 1941; he attended the
8University of Illinois at Navy Pier and Southern Illinois
9University at Carbondale, where he majored in physical
10education and later earned a master's degree in rehabilitation
11administration; and
12 WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein met Joyce Pickford in
13Carbondale; they married in 1966 and remained together until
14his death; and
15 WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein excelled in sports and was well
16known in Southern Illinois as a top-notch slow-pitch softball
17player; and
18 WHEREAS, For years, Jordan Goldstein refereed youth
19basketball, umpired softball, and coached youth teams in
20Southern Illinois; he also helped organize and volunteered for
21the Special Olympics in Southern Illinois; and

1 WHEREAS, For many years, Jordan Goldstein worked as a
2rehabilitation counselor for the Illinois Department of
3Rehabilitation Services in Carbondale, where he helped many
4people with physical, intellectual, and developmental
5disabilities and their families connect with government and
6other services and supports that gave his clients the
7opportunity to accomplish their life goals; and
8 WHEREAS, Upon retirement, Jordan Goldstein moved to
9Gainesville, Florida, where he continued his work assisting
10persons with disabilities in obtaining services, so they could
11live productive lives; and
12 WHEREAS, Jordan Goldstein is survived by his wife, Joyce;
13his brother, Ira; his son, Richard; his daughter, Dana Plotke;
14and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17mourn the passing of Jordan Goldstein and extend our sincere
18condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
19him; and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Jordan Goldstein as an expression of
